It’s been a great month on the writing front – made better by the reams of support everyone’s been showing. Seven Dark Stars is now out in paperback with the ebook hot on its heels. I hope you enjoy reading it as much as I did writing it, and as always, feedback of any kind is warmly welcome.
And as you’ve had to put up with me constantly posting about my writing, here’s a new song I’m addicted to. It might take your mind off work (and make you feel like driving all through the night).
Here’s something else fun for you – probably the best meme I’ve seen in ages.
I think what’s so brilliant about it is that it’s not just funny, it’s also very clever because it encapsulates our cultural approach to legend: a kind of nostalgia. It’s the understanding that in the old days gods and heroes kept their words. They were in some way “ideal” in a way we are not. It also reflects the problem of mythologising our own world – there are no external enemies to fight any more. We only kill each other. There aren’t ice giants coming to wipe us out, only insidious illness, famine, corruption. We all wish (and perhaps this is why superhero movies and fantasy films are so popular and powerful) that we could go back to this simpler time and once more strive against something other than ourselves.
Anyway, that’s all from me folks! Have a good one and see you next time!
